The unique sound of everything.
This is Soul Labs.
A book. A photograph.
A room. Even a spoon.
Each one different. Each carrying a sonic signature you’ve never heard before.
It’s the soundtrack of things.
Hidden sound.
Found music.
At Soul Labs, we translate this signature - this DNA - into music. We call the results Sonic Twins.
Each piece is made directly from the real thing.
From an object, image, or space.
Not inspired by it: derived from it.
Music drawn from the character, structure, and presence of the subject itself, creating new human experiences rooted in something real.
The real thing.
This isn’t stock audio. It’s not generative noise. A loop? Certainly not.
A SonicTwin is built from fragments of real identity. A piece of music that could only have come from that singular subject.
A true sonic version of the thing itself.
Our work has two equal parts.
First, we extract what’s already there. We call this SonicDNA.
The measurable information within a subject. Its shape, material, texture, colour, density, space.
Turned into data. Into waveforms. Into sound.
And then comes the craft.
Composing new music with understanding - what the subject is for, how it’s used, its history and what it represents.
The balance is the work. The outcome is a SonicTwin.
DNA x Craft.
SonicDNA in action.
What does a SonicTwin sound like?
We took one IKEA spoon and used our SonicDNA process to produce raw material, then crafted it into a new Sonic Twin music piece.

It’s not just spoons.
A singular earthenware mug + the SonicDNA process x a splash of musical craft = a new Sonic Twin.

And alternatively…
What if we produced a music track using instruments built from the video first?
SonicDNA drawn from stills from film footage, then turned into a new music piece, finally matching that with the self same footage. It’s a new symbiotic music and visual releationship…

We live in multi-sensory world. Running at 150%.
By unlocking the sonic form of an object, image or space, we have the opportunity for a new deeper, more profound experience.
A Sonic Twin is a living entity. Able to evolve, adapt, and scale across locations, seasons, and interactions.
For IP owners, it becomes a new cultural layer: fresh, authentic work that extends the life and meaning of the original without altering what it already is.

Camden Highline.
During 2024, we ran a Soul Lab pilot scheme for the Camden Highline development in London.
Working hand in hand with both client and a focus group of specially selected ‘Personas’ for feedback, we produced 9+ separate pieces of designed music over a 4 week period directly inspired by the Highline’s design, environment and history.

AI techniques.
Human craft.
Soul Labs is a createch and sonic foundry - manned by creative misfits in imaginary lab coats, powered by tea.
We sit between technology and craft, analysis and intuition, systems and taste.
We use technology to extract and understand, but rely on human judgment and creativity to decide what feels true.
Every Sonic Twin is composed, edited, and shaped by humans, with care for context, history, and meaning.
